Supporting the Individual

In Kings’ Sixth Form, our aim is to arm students with the academic and personal skills they need to succeed and thrive in the world beyond Kings’.

Our Sixth Form is a family and we aim to inspire and ensure that students believe that they determine their own success. We want to empower our students to realise that, through dedication and hard work, they will develop in their abilities, skills, academic achievements, and reach their career goals. Hence, we believe that relationships between students, parents, and the Sixth Form team is essential for students to maximise their learning experience.

Our pastoral team, with highly dedicated and enthusiastic tutors,  provide students with the individual help and attention they need and are encouraged to develop their independence, talents, and interests as well as skills needed for a successful life beyond Sixth Form.  Our pastoral curriculum is based on extensive cognitive and educational research, which draws together current thinking from areas of psychology, business, and sport to inspire, motivate, and accelerate student growth and achievement.

Key steps to success in post-16 study are instilling good study skills, habits and routines, responding constructively to feedback and setbacks in order to develop resilience, and having a vision for what they want to achieve in their future. In Year 12 and 13, students are encouraged to explore and perfect these key life skills, in order to develop into successful, independent, and driven lifelong learners.
